NexTag gives users a better way to shop online and get good deals. Users can visit the NexTag website and enter keywords into the search box. Nextag uses a sophisticated search technology to provide the user with a list of relevant items and detailed information about each. The list includes a thumbnail image, brief description, name, where it can be purchased from, cost and links to visit the online store. Users can also click links to review more items available by the same seller or see similar items by other sellers. NexTag offers a diverse list of categories, from jewelry and shoes to holiday gifts and furniture. The user can check out coupons, rebates and price drops or compare the prices of the same item.

NexTag was co-founded by Rafael Ortiz (who is no longer with the company) out of San Mateo, California. The current team consists of CEO Jeffrey G. Katz, Chairman Purnendu Ojha, Chief Financial Officer Brian Regan, Senior Vice President of Human Resources Shea Kelly, Senior Vice President of Engineering Claire Hough, and Senior Vice President Mark Bradley.

Users can easily compare merchandise from different sellers and check for other items that are similar or available through the same seller. The NexTag website design works pretty well to help improve the user’s experience. Although shopping websites often want to put as many products in front of the user as possible, Nextag avoids this type of clutter by spacing out items. The homepage still features a color thumbnail image, price and a snippet of product information, but it’s all well positioned for easy reading and reviewing. The search bar is very easy to use and the results provide user with all the information they need before they even click on the item.

Registering for Nextag is very simple. Users can choose to login using an existing Facebook profile. A traditional registration form is also available. After clicking the “Sign In” link at the top right hand corner of the homepage, the user is directed to the registration and sign in forms. The registration form, found along the right hand side, asks for a member name, email address, and password. A check box is automatically checked to sign the user up for email notifications and updates. This can be unchecked to prevent unwanted spam.

Nextag offers a helpful service, but it is something very similar to what many other sites offer. Requesting a subscription or sign up fee would require adding more features to the site. For now, Nextag creators have kept it at the right price: free. Anyone can create an account and use Nextag features to make a well informed purchase online at no cost.

The site provides an enormous selection of items and categories, or users can search for very specific items through the homepage search bar.
